Bitter Chocolate Beef Chilli

Bitter Chocolate Chilli with Tortilla, Salsa, Sour Cream and Cucumber Bitter Chocolate Chilli with Tortilla, Salsa, Sour Cream and Cucumber

Serves 4 - 6

 

500g Oving Dexters Minced Beef

1 large onion

1 clove of garlic

1-2 tsp of mild chilli powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp ground coriander

1 tsp ground cinnamon

400g tin of kidney beans in water

400g tin of tinned tomatoes

10g of dark chocolate

Salt and pepper

 

  1. Brown the mince in a medium hot pan breaking it up with a spoon
  2. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic and add to the mince, allow to soften for about 5 minutes
  3. Stir in the chilli powder, ground cumin, coriander and cinnamon
  4. Drain the kidney beans and add to the pan. Add the tinned tomatoes then fill the tin they came in with water and add this too. 
  5. Allow this to come to the boil again then add the chocolate and combine well. Simmer for about 40 minutes (can be longer) to let the flavours combine.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

 

Serve with rice, tortilla or tacos with lots of salsa, sour cream and grated cheese
